Halloween is on a Saturday this year — the Hong Kong parties worth booking before you leave the house

Here's the problem with Halloween on a Saturday: everyone has the same idea, at the same time, in the same few streets. 31 October 2026 is a Saturday — the one night the whole city saved for — and the rooms worth being in fill long before you've finished arguing about it in the group chat. So start here: the four we'd lock in before anything else, then everything else worth a ticket this weekend. The honest answer to "can we just turn up?" is: not on Saturday. Sort the ticket first.

A costume gets you a free tram ride on Saturday. It does not get you through a sold-out door.

The four to lock in first

Upper Hong Kong turns its rooftop over to "The Poison Cherry" on both Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October — Halloween with a skyline and a dress code rather than a mosh, high up and properly done. The roof only holds so many, which is exactly why it's the first one we'd book.

FAYY runs "Exotica" across both nights, high up in California Tower. This is the team that ran Volar's basement for seventeen years, now holding one of Central's serious late rooms — the place the night goes when most places have called last orders. Costume optional, stamina less so.

Boomerang does Halloween at the scale you'd expect from the only Hong Kong club ever to make DJ Mag's Top 100 — #32 this year, six years running and still climbing. This is the big-room, big-sound version of the night. If you want to actually dance rather than pose, lock it on the app.

Social Room is the fourth we'd sort early — a club night for people who came to dance, not to queue for a photo. It's the one to grab now and not think about again. Tickets on the Mandos app.

Also worth a ticket: the loud nights

Afrorave takes over Casa Dao on Friday 30 October with South African headliner Okmalumkoolkat — the ninth edition of a series that's quietly become one of the most distinctive recurring nights in the city, and the one here least like everything else. Shuffle (our partner room, running UNHOLY across both nights) is the pick when you want a proper line-up over a themed backdrop. Both reward turning up for the music first.

FOVOS runs its own Central night on Friday 30 October for the electronic crowd, and Dark Kingdom lands on Saturday 31 for a harder, darker Halloween than the rooftop crowd is after. Both sell on the line-up — check who's playing before you commit.

If you want a concept, not just a club

The Crown's "Dark Gatsby" is for a costume with a tailor rather than a fake-blood budget — high up, dressed up, 1920s-horror glamour. FLOAT DOWN goes full haunted-house on Saturday for people who want the scare done properly, and Girls of HK x Nine Lives runs the same night for a crowd that wants the party without the horror-movie staging. Three different answers to the same Saturday.

The free one, if you're not buying a ticket

The Tai Hang Halloween Block Party is free and outdoors on Saturday 31 October — the honest answer for anyone who doesn't want a cover or the Lan Kwai Fong queue. It's a neighbourhood street party, not a late club night, so go early and treat it as the warm-up. Tai Hang winds down well before the clubs hit their stride, so you can do both.

Why you book now, not at the door

Three things decide whether Saturday is a good night or a wasted one. First, the ticket: every room here except Tai Hang is ticketed, and Saturday is the night they fill — "we'll sort it there" is how you end up outside a full door at 11pm watching other people's costumes walk in. Grab tickets on the Mandos app before you leave the house. Second, the costume: on 17, 24 and 31 October anyone in costume rides Citybus night services and the trams free, and Saturday is the last of the three — the last free ride of the year. Third, the timing: the good rooms are full by 9 to 10pm, and the Lan Kwai Fong queues ran one to two hours on the first two Saturdays. This is the bigger one.

If Lan Kwai Fong is your plan, read our separate guide to getting in and out of the district on the night — the street closures and the last-train problem are the part nobody plans for. Everywhere else: book the ticket, charge your phone, and decide now. On a Saturday Halloween, the city doesn't wait for you to make up your mind.

Frequently asked

When is Halloween in Hong Kong in 2026?
Halloween falls on Saturday 31 October 2026. The city's first month-long Halloween also ran cosplay street parties on 17 and 24 October, but the 31st — a Saturday — is the main night. (HKTB, 30 September 2026)
Which Halloween parties need tickets?
Almost all of them. Upper Hong Kong, FAYY, Boomerang, Social Room, Shuffle, FOVOS, Afrorave, The Crown's Dark Gatsby, FLOAT DOWN, Girls of HK x Nine Lives and Dark Kingdom are all ticketed over the Halloween weekend, 30–31 October. The Tai Hang Halloween Block Party is the free, outdoor exception. Book the ticketed nights on the Mandos app before you go.
Is there free transport on Halloween night?
Yes — anyone in costume rides Citybus night services and the trams free on 17, 24 and 31 October. Saturday 31 is the last of the three. "In costume" is judged at the door, so treat it as a bonus, not your guaranteed way home.
What's the best free Halloween event in Hong Kong?
The Tai Hang Halloween Block Party on Saturday 31 October — outdoors, no cover, a neighbourhood street party rather than a late club night. Go early and use it as a warm-up before the ticketed rooms hit their stride.
Where can I do Halloween with a view rather than a dancefloor?
Upper Hong Kong's rooftop runs "The Poison Cherry" on both 30 and 31 October — the pick for Halloween with a skyline and a dress code rather than a crush. The roof is limited, so it's a book-ahead.
