Two Halloween Saturdays have already run in Lan Kwai Fong — here is what they tell you about Saturday night
Two of Hong Kong's three Halloween Saturdays have already run, and they tell you exactly what Saturday night will be: tens of thousands in costume, one-to-two-hour queues to get in, D'Aguilar Street closed and the bars packed by 9pm. Here is what the rehearsals taught us, and how to get in and out.

What the first two Saturdays already showed
The Tourism Board's first Hong Kong Halloween Month ran cosplay street parties on three consecutive Saturdays — 17, 24 and 31 October 2026 — across five districts: the Chater Road area and Lan Kwai Fong in Central, Kai Tak Sports Park, Langham Place in Mong Kok, and Mody Road Garden in Tsim Sha Tsui. Two are done. The third is Halloween itself. (HKTB, 30 September 2026)
What those two Saturdays established is the useful part. Reuters put tens of thousands of costumed revellers in the district, and the SCMP reported bar trade across the area up 10 to 20 per cent so far this month. For scale: organisers estimated about 80,000 people in Lan Kwai Fong on Halloween night 2025, and the LKF chairman said before this year's run that he expected to match it — only now spread across three weekends instead of one night.
What the three LKF nights actually are
Three themed nights carried the LKF programme — Monster DJ Night, Wizard Block Party and Monsters Night. The cosplay highlight started at 8pm each Saturday, and by 9pm the SCMP described thousands moving slowly through the streets. The footprint is D'Aguilar Street, Lan Kwai Fong itself and Wo On Lane — which is the stretch that stops being busy and starts being impassable.
The free rides are real, and they have a condition
People in costume ride Citybus night services and the trams free on 17, 24 and 31 October, so Saturday is the last of the three. The condition is the costume, and "in costume" is judged at the door rather than by a published threshold — treat it as a bonus if it lands, not as your way home. One thing to leave at home whatever you are dressed as: police have repeatedly advised against imitation firearms or anything that reads as an offensive weapon as part of a costume.
Saturday is the last one, and everything lands on it
31 October 2026 is a Saturday. It is simultaneously the last of the three Tourism Board Saturdays, the closing night of LKF's own 14–31 October programme, and Halloween itself. Three reasons for the same crowd to pick the same night. The two rehearsals are done and this is the one everybody saved. If you want the spectacle, Saturday is it. If you want to move, the window has closed — the quiet evenings in the 14–31 run are behind us.
Getting out, which is the part nobody plans
Most MTR stations run their last trains at around 00:50, so past 1am you need another way home. Urban taxi flagfall is $29 and the meter covers everything — there is no official late-night surcharge — but cross-harbour tunnel and return fares are charged on top, so settle that before the car moves. (MTR service hours and Transport Department taxi fare table, verified 16 August 2026)
On the Saturdays already run, people queued roughly one to two hours to get in, and police redirected the queues around the district. Budget for the wait or go early — that is the single thing that decides whether Saturday is a good night.
If you want a table rather than a street
The 14–31 October window had eleven quieter evenings in it and they have been spent. For Saturday the pavement belongs to the parade, so a table means a booking made in advance, not a decision made at the door. If you want the district without the crush, the first week of November is the answer — same bars, no queue.

Frequently asked
- When is the Lan Kwai Fong Halloween street party 2026?
- The last of the three cosplay street parties is Saturday 31 October 2026, which is Halloween itself. The first two were 17 and 24 October. LKF's own programme has run since 14 October. (lankwaifong.com and HKTB, read 29 October 2026)
- Is Hong Kong Halloween Month free to attend?
- The street programmes are public street events rather than ticketed ones. Individual bars, clubs and dinner events inside the district set their own door charges and minimums, so check the specific venue rather than assuming the night is free throughout.
- How long is the queue to get into Lan Kwai Fong on Halloween?
- On the two Saturdays already run, people waited roughly one to two hours to get into the district, with police redirecting queues. The cosplay programme starts at 8pm and the streets were packed by 9pm, so arriving before 8pm is the difference between walking in and queueing. (Dim Sum Daily and SCMP, read 29 October 2026)
- Which streets are closed for LKF Halloween?
- D'Aguilar Street, Lan Kwai Fong itself and Wo On Lane. On the Saturdays already run the Transport Department closed D'Aguilar Street near Queen's Road Central, and Citybus routes 12 and 13 were diverted. In previous years police have also used phased closures on Wyndham, Wellington and Stanley Streets with one-way pedestrian flow — in via D'Aguilar, out via Wyndham — but that is not confirmed for this year, so check the Police and Transport Department notices on the day.
- How do I get home from Lan Kwai Fong on Halloween night?
- Most MTR stations run their last trains around 00:50. After that it is a taxi — $29 flagfall with no official late-night surcharge, but cross-harbour tunnel and return fares added — or a night bus, which runs less often than daytime services. (MTR service hours and Transport Department taxi fare table, verified 16 August 2026)
